The Grand is currently higher than we like so we've been focused on its tributaries and the Muskegon River. Swim flies continue to be the ticket. With the colder than normal temps, we continue to use the cold water lines such as Scientific Anglers I/2/3 and Rio's Predator Float / Hover / S3.
On the trout side of things we have been seeing good sulphur hatches in the late afternoon - evening hours. No spinner falls for sulphur’s yet but emergence’s have been great. Duns and emerger’s have been top producing bugs for us in size 14s - 18s. As far as locations go, keep on eye on the edges of the river and heavy foam lines for duns. You will see trout rising in these places while bugs are popping off. With that being said keep in mind our Gray Drake hatch. We have seen a few but not many while on the river this week. These bugs will be coming in hot very soon so key an eye out.
In need of smallmouth equipment or need a few bugs for the hatch tonight? The shop is loaded up and we would love to help get you on the water for your next adventure.
