On The Hunt

June 24, 2023

The Grand River has been fishing pretty steady lately.  There are some periods of lulls but we continue to bring fish to net.

Durning those lulls, it’s important to stay focused and keep your head in the game.  The bite has been lite and comes quickly, so be ready.

We’ve been bringing fish to net on topwater, Ned Rigs, Mepps and jointed crankbaits.  On the fly side, woolly buggers and streamers in yellow and pink have been the ticket.  Again, the bite is lite and at times is seems like they’re just nipping at it.  On the top water, try frogs, boogle bugs and Zudbubblers.

It looks like we’re going to get some much needed rain in the forecast.  We need it and that should help stir up activity more.

As we move into July and August, we have some good availability for smallmouth and pike so give us call.

Get out on the river
Our mission is connecting people to the rivers we fish, while teaching them the value of our fisheries, one trip, one river and one cast at a time.

This was my second trip with Werkman Outfitters; first time out with Max. My goal for the day was to learn Spey casting. Max was an excellent instructor who delivered the right amount of coaching at the right times. By the end of the trip I was confidently getting lots of line on the water exactly where I wanted it. It was a blast. I can hardly wait to do it again!
