Winter Windows

February 10, 2026

It appears that we finally have some warmer weather heading our way. Compared to what we've been in, it feels like a heatwave. There are some sections of rivers that are open for wading. If you're going to float, make sure you do your homework beforehand. We've heard of some boats launching in open water, only to float a ways and realize the river is still locked up.

On the sections that are open, steelhead are being caught. It should be pretty good, as many of these fish have not been harassed for quite awhile. The ones that are coming to net are dark, holdover fish.

Egg and nymph patterns continue to be the ticket. Use longer leaders in 10# or 8# but don't be afraid to go as light as 6# in these clearer conditions. The extended forecast for March looks extremely promising and fishing should be good

Our schedule is quickly filling up for late March with plenty of April availabilty between all our guides. If you're interest in booking a trip with us, it's best to call the shop sooner rather than later to lock in your date.

It'll be nice to see the warmer weather, hope to see everyone on the river soon.
